We're analyzing the narrative design of Murdered: Soul Suspect at 3PM EDT

Join us for a close look at the narrative design of Murdered: Soul Suspect at 3PM EDT.

It’s October, so in millennial terms, that means it’s basically Halloween right up through October 31st. We haven’t had a lot of chances to check out any horror or supernatural games this month, so we’re diving back into the (near) history of video games for a little narrative design analysis today. Starting at 3PM EDT, we’re going to be replaying Murdered: Soul Suspect, an overlooked ghost detective game from 2014.

One of Murdered: Soul Suspect’s oddities is the fact that the player character interacts with the world in several strange and unique ways, and those powers need to be contextualized for an audience not used to these more unconventional interactions. We’ll be joined by roving Gamasutra contributor Brandon Sheffield, who’s spent a lot of time examining how Airtight Games’ final release introduced some interesting design ideas worth studying.

So join us in Twitch chat! And while you’re at it, be sure to follow the Gamasutra Twitch channel for more gameplay commentary, developer interviews and editor roundtables.
