Lead Designer, Sanzaru Games

Location: Mountain View, California

Working closely with the Creative Director, the Lead Designer will be responsible for spearheading the creation of gameplay systems, narrative, scenario authoring, and quality for our upcoming projects.  This role will also include directing other designers as well as coordinating and collaborating with other development departments.


  • Create, collaborate, and oversee all elements of system, narrative, and content design
  • Lead and manage design team in alignment with objectives and expectations
  • Work closely with leadership layer across all disciplines to define and execute goals
  • Create, lead by example, and implement gameplay using 3D editors and scripting languages
  • Strong focus on level design and character mechanics
  • Provide and receive critiques in a constructive manner with suggestions and solutions for improvement
  • Remain current on industry trends including new game genres and new game design methods
  • Write, present, and communicate game concepts and designs clearly and concisely with team and studio


  • 5+ years of industry experience working as a game designer on 1 shipped AAA title
  • Must have lead at least 1 published game as lead designer
  • Contagious enthusiasm for the project at hand and capable of driving the project vision
  • Strong ability to conceptualize, prototype, iterate, and balance features
  • Working knowledge of Maya or 3D equivalent package
  • Working knowledge of Unreal a big plus!
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt easily to change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively
  • Obsessive console gamer a plus!
