Double Fine fans unite to develop scrapped Amnesia Fortnight game

Double Fine fans are making a community edition of Bad Golf 2, a deadly competitive golf game pitched unsuccessfully by Patrick Hackett during the studio's 2014 Amnesia Fortnight game jam.
Fans are banding together to develop a community version of Bad Golf 2, a four-player competitive golf game succintly pitched as "the PGA Tour meets the demolition derby" by progenitor and Double Fine senior gameplay programmer Patrick Hackett during the studio's 2014 Amnesia Fortnight game jam. Hackett's Bad Golf 2 pitch didn't prove popular enough to be made into an actual Double Fine game, but a post on the Double Fine forums from a fan suggesting that the community work together to build a version of the game was met with a reply from Hackett to the effect of "Pleeeaaaaaaase do this. I will help in any way I can." In response, at least twenty members of the Double Fine community have banded together on the Double Fine forums in a thread titled Bad Golf: Community Edition to collaborate on building the game in Unity, and they already have their own GitHub repository, development wiki, video reel (embedded above) and concept art. Hackett himself has been very active in the thread, offering development advice and encouragement along with assurances that Double Fine takes no issue with the development of Bad Golf: Community Edition as long as it's freely distributed and never sold. "I’d love to see a 'version' done at the end of our [Amnesia Fortnight]," wrote Hackett in a recent forum post. "Something that could be referenced as, 'the community was able to put this amount of content together during the duration of Double Fine’s Amnesia Fortnight.' Something that could be referred to for future projects."
