We’re doing something a little different today on the Gamasutra Twitch channel. Instead of playing a video game, we’re going to be taking a deep dive on the design of a tabletop game—specifically, Fantasy Flight’s X-Wing Miniatures Game.

Why this game? Well for one, its character-building mechanics have similarities to a lot of competitive video games. For another, it has a unique movement system that allows for mistakes and unexpected consequences to define the shape of the game.

To learn more about these systems, we’ve invited Fantasy Flight developers Alex Davy, Max Brooke and Frank Brooks to join us today in a conversation about the game’s design. So whether you’re an ace X-Wing jockey, or just want to learn more about design for miniatures games, you should join us in Twitch chat today to 3PM EDT.

And while you’re at it, be sure to follow the Gamasutra Twitch channel for more developer interviews, editor roundtables and gameplay commentary.
