[Every week, IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor-in-chief Tim W. will be summing up some of the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last seven days on his sister 'state of indie' weblog.] This week on 'Best Of Indie Games', we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The goodies in this edition include a unique two-player racing game, a one-button jumping game, an iPad port of IGF 2007 Seumas McNally Grand Prize winner Aquaria, plus a new release from Game Dev Story creator Kairosoft. Here's some recent highlights from the site: Game Pick: 'Roadeo' (Bernhard Handler, browser) "Roadeo is a two-player racing game that presents a rather clever idea: one person can choose to control the car, while the other can decide how the road should be built for his or her friend to drive on." Game Pick: 'The Deep Sky' (Matthew Bowden, freeware) "Created in the space of seventy-two hours, The Deep Sky is an arena shooter that has a sort of fl0w presentation to it. Enemies come piling in from all sides, and you need to take them all out before they destroy you." Game Pick: 'HOPS' (Mabi Games, browser) "HOPS is an expansion on the original one-button jumping game from Mabi Games in 2009. You are a little man who can only bound forward, and must leap over pits to reach the end intact." Game Pick: 'Gyossait' (Benjamin Braden, browser) "Gyossait is the latest offering from Amon26, and follows Oyeatia, the creator of men, as he descends into the bowels of the earth, looking for his lost love." Game Pick: 'Aquaria' (Semi Secret Software, commercial indie) "IGF 2007 Seumas McNally Grand Prize winner Aquaria hits iPads via iTunes last week. Players partake in a 2D underwater action-adventure with huge areas to explore, enemies to overcome, pieces of the environment to move, and eight different playable forms with unique abilities to handle it all." Game Pick: 'Hapland' (Robin Allen, browser) "The Hapland series is the result of Robin Allen's twisted ingenuity and a rather comical albeit violent set of puzzle games. For the most part, gameplay will consist of you clicking on various things in the game's world in order to precipitate certain events." Game Pick: 'Bicicletas: HOY' (Videogamo, browser) "IGF 2012 entry Bicicletas: HOY is a 2D, horizontally scrolling, musical lyric-em-up from Argentina-based Videogamo. The goal is to control the lead vocalist Julio through a crazy dream world to collect the lyrics and stars." Game Pick: 'Oh! Edo Towns' (Kairosoft, commercial indie) "The most recent addition to Kairosoft's stable of absurdly addictive games, Oh! Edo Towns will have you striving to create the perfect samurai town. There are a variety of things to construct, tiny digital people to please and goals to fulfill." Game Pick: 'Blackwell Deception' (Wadjet Eye Games, commercial indie) "Smart, well-written and refreshingly free of obtuse puzzles, Blackwell Deception is a chip off the old block. Much like its predecessors, Wadjet Eye Games' latest point & click adventure is a distinctively old-school experience jazzed up with The Big Apple's sauciness and urbane wit." Game Pick: 'Katwalk' (Charlie Schuy, browser) "Katwalk is a short 2D platformer about a cat who decides to take a stroll outside on a sunny day, but somehow got stuck in an underground cavern and must find a way to return to his home safely."
