Although Microsoft's
recent X05 announcement specified a number of new Xbox 360 titles, notably missing from official statements at the Amsterdam event was confirmation of the official Xbox 360 launch software line-up. The console debuts on November 22 in North America, December 2 in Europe and December 10 in Japan, and many observers were expecting a canonical list of launch games.
Fortunately, consumer game website GameSpot managed to contact David Reid, director of platform marketing for the Xbox, who went a little further towards a concrete announcement, commenting "there will be 15 to 20 Xbox 360 titles available on launch day."
Of those titles, Reid was only willing to specifically name Microsoft and EA-published games as being available at Xbox 360 launch:
Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and Xbox 360 exclusive
FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup.
He did, however, say that the remaining titles were "currently in the final stages of certification" - while nothing is certain, multiplatform titles such as Neversoft/Activision's
Gun, which is due to launch for other platforms on November 8, according to Electronics Boutique's website, seem the most likely to also debut alongside the Xbox.
