Nintendo updated its North American WiiWare shop with one new title, Wild West Guns (pictured) from developer Gameloft. The company also added Sega Master System port Sonic the Hedgehog and Sega Genesis beat’em-up Splatterhouse 2 to its Virtual Console offerings. In Wild West Guns, up to two players point their Wii Remotes and shoot at enemies and targets to earn points, medals, and rewards while trying to avoid hitting innocent bystanders. Players can either work cooperatively or compete against each other as they take part in an Old West-style train attack or attempt other shooting challenges. Originally released for the Sega Master System in 1991, Sonic The Hedgehog is a port of the identically titled Sega Genesis game, which served as the blue mascot’s debut. This version includes new stages, new bosses, different zones, and a level map. Unlike the Genesis title, this release scatters Chaos Emeralds throughout several stages instead of restricting them to Special Stages. Namco’s Splatterhouse 2, a Sega Genesis exclusive, continues three months after the original game and once again places players in the role of parapsychology student Rick Taylor. With the help of a Mayan Terror Mask, players punch, smash, and chainsaw their way through a haunted mansion to rescue Rick’s girlfriend, Jennifer. The three games are are available for download on North America's Wii Shopping Channel, priced at 1000 Wii Points ($10) for Wild West Guns, 500 Wii Points ($5) for Sonic The Hedgehog, and 800 Wii Points ($8) for Splatterhouse 2.
