Silicon Valley startup Magic Leap published a brief video last week purportedly demonstrating what it looks like to see the world through its augmented reality tech, and showcasing potential game and entertainment applications for the hardware.
We've taken the liberty of sharing that video with you here because details about what exactly Magic Leap is, how it works and what kind of experiences it can generate have been scant on the ground.
Magic Leap netted half a billion dollars in investment from Google last year and has been working quietly (occasionally making headlines by spending that money in high-profile ways, like enlisting author Neal Stephenson) since then.
It wasn't until earlier this year that significant details on its work surfaced in an MIT Technoloy Review article that described Magic Leap's technology as "an itty-bitty projector that shines light into your eyes."
The author went on to describe looking through a pair of lenses and using a video game controller to interact with a virtual monster that was projected into the real world, and similar effects can be seen in the video Magic Leap released last week.
