Emergent Game Technologies has announced that Sony Online Entertainment will use its Gamebryo engine to develop PlayStation Network titles based on game show IPs. According to the announcement, the first games in development are scheduled to launch prior to the Game Developers Conference in February 2008, though the company does not specify how many Gamebryo-developed titles will be developed through the partnership. Gamebryo is a part of the company's modular Emergent Elements toolset, and has been optimized for development on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and Emergent recently announced Wii support as well. It was used on Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and on its upcoming Fallout 3, both for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, in addition to EA-Mythic's upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Emergent CEO Geoffrey Selzer commented, “Our relationship with SOE aligns Emergent with the exploding casual, online games market and further demonstrates the range of leading entertainment properties and platforms that Gamebryo is capable of supporting. We are thrilled that SOE has chosen us as a technology provider for their studio. Gamebryo gives SOE’s studio the flexibility to design a complete range of titles to address the millions of gamers currently active on the network.”
