Online reports suggest that Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Interactive are planning their own HD-enabled, PlayStation 3 compilation re-releases of PS2-era games, similar to those released and announced by Sony.
French site JeuxVideo
cites unnamed sources [French language link] in suggesting that Ubisoft will release
Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D,
Splinter Cell Trilogy and
Rayman Trilogy on November 4th, while Warner Bros. Interactive will release
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection HD on November 18th.
JeuxVideo's report suggests the Ubisoft titles will be available for 40 Euros and will feature remastered, high-definition and stereoscopic 3D-enabled versions of the PS2 editions of the appropriate series, while the
Mortal Kombat collection will retail for 30 Euros and include high definition versions of the series' first three arcade releases.
The
Splinter Cell and
Prince of Persia collections are
currently listed with different release dates on British retailer Zavvi.com, and were
previously listed by Amazon France, according to VG247. The
Mortal Kombat collection has appeared and disappeared from various U.S. and U.K. retailers in recent months as well.
The reported re-release plans come in the wake of Sony's recent announcements of remastered, stereoscopic 3D-enabled PS3 collections for PS2-era games from the
Ico and
Sly Cooper franchises, and last November's release of the similar
God of War Collection
Sony also announced re-release plans for a number of recent PS3 titles today: the publisher
debuted a "Game of the Year" Edition of
Uncharted 2 that will include a voucher for all of the game's DLC; and
an expansion of the $29.99 Greatest Hits program that includes
MAG, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Demon's Souls, Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: World at War, and
Tekken 5.
