Multiple media reports suggest that Capcom is working with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games to create
Dead Rising 2.
Although the game has still yet to be confirmed by Capcom, it was first rumored in February -- with consumer magazine EGM suggesting in its Quartermann column that a Western developer was involved.
Major weblog Kotaku first suggested Blue Castle Games as the developer, with consumer website Eurogamer today also claiming that the studio has got the job.
Citing a source close to the developer, Eurogamer reports that the Vancouver-based company is currently hiring for new staff to work on the sequel. "Everyone's really excited; the team has obviously seen the rumors, and it's been hard to keep quiet, but they can't wait to show off the game," the
unnamed source said.
Blue Castle Games has so far released only one game: baseball title
The Bigs for 2K Sports. It is also known to be working on management title
MLB Front Office Manager.
Although 2006’s
Dead Rising was a critical and commercial hit, Capcom has never confirmed a sequel. The title was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive but a version of the original game was
recently announced for the Wii and is due to be released next year.
