Market research firm Media Create has revealed data for weekly hardware sales in Japan for the week ending February 24th, following details of the
software top thirty.
Thanks to the continued success of
Super Smash Bros. Brawl and
Wii Fit the Wii remains the best selling console of the week, although the top three selling consoles continue to run extremely close. With overall software sales down this week, hardware sales also experienced a drop – with the Wii down over 15,000 units to 63,504.
The PSP was back in second place, falling by over 6,000 units to a total of 53,373. Sales of the Nintendo DS though dropped by over 12,000 units to 50,151 – pushing the console back into third place this week.
A clear divide still exists between the top and bottom selling consoles in Japan, with PlayStation 3 sales falling by over 3,500 units to 14,060 and PlayStation 2 sales dropping by over 1,500 units to 9,634.
Despite two titles in the top fifty (
Bioshock at number eight and
Burnout Paradise at number thirty-one) Xbox 360 sales fell to their lowest for several weeks, down by a few hundred units to just 2,001.
Overall in the software top fifty there were twenty-two Nintendo DS titles, nine PlayStation 2 titles, eight Wii titles, five PlayStation 3 titles, four PSP titles and two Xbox 360 titles.
