Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that the company is currently in talks with publishers, including Take-Two Interactive, to release more mature rated content on the Wii. When asked about the possibility of a Grand Theft Auto title appearing on the Wii, during an interview for MTV News, Fils-Aime answered that: “We're reaching out to every publisher, frankly every day. I'll be spending some time later today with the folks over at Take-Two to see what type of support they can give our console.” “The fact is there will be M-rated content on the Wii console. EA has already announced that they're bringing The Godfather to our console. And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is." Although the GameCube did play host to some mature content rated games, including the Nintendo published Eternal Darkness and Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 and killer7, Nintendo were still unable to shake the image of a console dominated by child friendly titles and lacking in third party support. Fils-Aime’s comments to MTV represent his most forthright assertion yet that the Wii will offer a substantially more varied line-up of titles. To that end, and as revealed last week, the console already has relatively strong support in its launch line-up from major Western publishers including Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and Activision.
