Officials from Nintendo UK have announced the rollout of over thirty new “Nintendo DS Centres” at retailers across the country, including GAME, Argos, HMV, Zavvi, Toys ‘R’ Us, Woolworths and Asda.
The scheme is similar to other promotions in Japan and the U.S. where users are able to watch, play and download demos of current and forthcoming titles. Participating stores are currently primarily situated in London and the South East, with more locations due to be announced soon.
Initial focuses for the UK will be playable titles
Sight Training (aka
Flash Focus),
Nintendogs,
Big Brain Academy,
New Super Mario Bros.,
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and
Animal Crossing: Wild World.
Downloadable titles will be limited to
Brain Training (aka
Brain Age,
Sight Training,
More Brain Training,
Big Brain Academy,
Mario Kart DS and
42 All Time Classics (aka
Clubhouse Games).
The recent release of the new red, turquoise and green colored Nintendo DS Lite consoles in the UK are reported to have seen a significant rise in hardware sales for the already popular format, although as usual no specific numbers have been released by local chart compiler Chart-Track.
