In one of today's main Gamasutra features, video game HR veteran Marc Mencher talks about the problems of leaving a job in the game industry to take a new one, with particular reference to the issues around your employer giving you a more significant offer to stay on.
Mencher has a particular view of this practice, and suggests in his introduction:
"You were just offered a dream job by the developer across town, you finally got up the nerve to tell your boss that you're outta there, and, lo and behold, he blew your mind by making you a counteroffer. What a nice compliment! Now you need some advice about when it's appropriate to accept. Lucky for you, the answer is incredibly simple..."
