Over four million gamers worldwide have downloaded the demo for Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The survival horror shooter's demo was initially released on December 5th to Xbox 360 owners in Japan, where it was downloaded by over 53 percent of Japanese Xbox Live gold members. Microsoft also made an Xbox 360 trial available in North America and Europe starting January 26th, as part of a one-week platform exclusive. The free demo was downloaded over 1.8 million times in just the first three days, while it was offered exclusively to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Non-paying Xbox Live Silver members received access to the download from January 29th on. The PlayStation 3 version of the downloadable Resident Evil 5 demo was released in all major territories on February 2nd. With the trial now available for both PS3 and Xbox 360 users worldwide, the demo has been downloaded over four million times, producer Jun Takeuchi told gaming weblog MTV Multiplayer. One of the most anticipated titles of this Spring, the full Resident Evil 5 game is due for release simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 5th in Japan, and on March 13th in North America and Europe. The Japanese release will be accompanied by PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware bundles, with the PS3 version including an 80GB PlayStation 3 system branded with the Biohazard logo (the Resident Evil series' title in Japan) and text, among other items.
