Weekly software sales have continued to endure an extremely slow market in Japan, with only the top title selling in any substantial numbers.
Indeed, new number one
Another Century's Episode 3, a mecha action title, has, like its predecessors, performed extremely well with 186,000 unit sales on PlayStation 2.
The strong performance of Banpresto’s title suggests that the market simply lacks suitable stimulation from other big name titles, a factor that is likely to change next week with the release of
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on PSP.
In the meantime the second highest new entry of the week is a Nintendo DS mahjong/Mobile Suit Gundam game from Namco Bandai at number six, with just 17,000 units sold.
The only other new entry in the top ten is the PlayStation 2 version of
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, which has performed significantly less well than the PSP version, with only 16,000 unit sales.
