2K Games Signs Havok For Wii Titles

Havok has announced it has entered into a licensing agreement with 2K Games, for the company’s eponymous physics engine. The deal will see the physics technology being used in a number of new Wii titles, beginning with Carnival Games: Mini-Golf.
Officials from middleware provider Havok have announced that the company has entered into a licensing agreement with Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games, for the company’s eponymous physics engine. The deal will allow 2K Games to use the technology for several upcoming titles for the Wii, beginning with Carnival Games: Mini-Golf, sequel to the successful mini-game collection Carnival Games which has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide. The other titles are so far unannounced. “Anyone who has used the Wii will recognize how important accurate movement is for the players’ enjoyment of the game. Fans of Carnival Games: Mini-Golf won’t be disappointed with the final results!” said Havok managing director David O’Meara. Havok’s physics software has so far been used in over 200 titles, with an additional 90 in development. These include titles as diverse as Halo 3, Assassin’s Creed, Guitar Hero III, Bioshock, World in Conflict, The Orange Box, Heavenly Sword and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Havok technology has also been used in special effects for movies including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 10,000 BC, X-Men: The Last Stand, Poseidon, The Matrix, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
