Another strong week of sales in Japan has seen
Wii Fit claim the number one spot in its second week, with Nintendo’s exercise themed hardware bundle proving an expected hit in its homeland.
Three games sold over 100,000 units this week, with
Wii Fit on 150,000,
Mario Party DS rising up four places to number two with 107,000 units sold and Namco’s
Tales of Innocence on Nintendo DS selling 104,000 units.
The fourth highest new entry of the week was the latest game in the
Hot Shots Golf/
Everybody’s Golf series on PSP, which continues to one of the format’s biggest franchises with around 87,000 units sold in its first week.
Also new at number seven is Mistwalker’s new role-playing game
Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360. The more adult themed adventure sold more than 25,000 less units than the opening week of Mistwalker’s
Blue Dragon – which was released at almost exactly the same time
last year. However, the 55,000 unit total was still well above average for an Xbox 360 release in Japan.
The final new entry in the top ten was Konami’s baseball simulator
Power Pro Kun Pocket 10 on Nintendo DS, with around 54,000 units sold. There were only two PlayStation 3 games in the top thirty with
World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (aka
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008) at number twenty-one and new entry
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune at number twenty-four.
