IGN Entertainment's GameSpy, a supplier of multiplayer technology, has provided the online technology for Majesco and Planet Moon Studio’s Infected
for the PlayStation Portable, enabling it to spread and track the affect of virtual viruses on humans worldwide.
is the first PSP title to use GameSpy’s Professional Services team to create a server-based world, taking the game beyond a single PSP or single group of players. Using the wireless capabilities of the PSP, GameSpy servers track each player’s progress in ridding themselves of the virus as well as their successes in killing infected zombies.
Since a virus can spread from player to player, GameSpy servers continuously track progress even as individual players come and go, giving the game "persistence."
Players can directly compete with others worldwide, whenever they have access to a WiFi Hotspot. Statistics from games played in "ad hoc" mode are also automatically transferred to the servers once the players is connected via WiFi Hotspot. Additional information is available on the official website
