YouTuber network Machinima acquired by stakeholder Warner Bros.

Game-focused YouTuber network Machinima has been acquired by Warner Bros. (which is itself owned by Time Warner) for an undisclosed sum, though the L.A. Times reports a source familiar with the deal values Machinima at ~$100 million.

What's notable here is that Warner Bros. made a significant investment in Machinima two years ago, and is now planning to fold the company into the Warner Bros. Digital Networks division it established this summer.

That division sits alongside WB's game division, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (which oversees subsidiary studios like Monolith and Rocksteady), and it's yet unclear how the two will work together.

It's worth noting that while Machinima is best known as a network of video game YouTubers (who have had run-ins with the feds over deceptive advertising), it has also expanded to publish videos on platforms like Amazon Video and PlayStation Vue.
