Ensuring players have a smooth, enjoyable experience with your game is tricky business. It gets even harder when your game is "live" and designed to grow and change over time.
At GDC 2017, Digit Games Studio's Om Tandon tried to help streamline the process for fellow devs by sharing a case study of how UX (user experience) designers collaborate with developers, data scientists, and monetization teams to address problems with a game.
Using Gameloft's Ice Age Adventures as a prominent example, Tandon explained how designers can implement practical UX solutions while simultaneously respecting the constraints of the team and the business realities of the project.
Moreover, he spoke to how devs can use data to back up the application of good UX and improve the player's experience.
It was a good, practical look at how UX works in games, and if you missed it at GDC you can now watch Tandon's talk for free on the official GDC YouTube channel!
