Will Kassoy, a 13-year veteran Activision executive, has joined social entertainment and media company Jirbo, Inc., where he will oversee the firm's app gaming division and other operations as CEO. Kassoy most recently served at Activision Blizzard as SVP of strategic growth. According to his LinkedIn career profile, he served in that position for nearly three years, and prior to that he was SVP of global brand management at Activision for over 10 years. While at the publisher, Kassoy helped bring to market major Activision franchises such as Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Marvel titles and Guitar Hero. Venture-backed Jirbo, Inc. said its app gaming division, simply called Jirbo, boasts over 32 million downloads of apps and games including 48 that broke into the top 1 percent of Apple's All Time Most Popular list. Jirbo has released over 200 games and apps, including Sovereign: Kingdoms and Paper Football 3D. Kassoy will also oversee AdColony, Jirbo, Inc.'s high-definition advertising network, which has clients including Optime Software (Move it!), Madfinger Games (Samurai II: Dojo) and Ricochet Labs (Qrank). Kassoy is taking over the position of CEO from founder Jonathan Zweig, who is now president of the company. Zweig said in a statement that Kassoy's experience will help "in growing both our app development and AdColony business units. We’re confident that his skill set is exactly what we need to assume leadership in this thriving new market."
