Following an update for both Doom Classic and Wolfenstein 3D Classic on the App Store, id Software's John Carmack has made available the source code for both updates. The source files are available for download on the Bethesda Blog. The updated code includes optimization for the iPad 2, Retina Display support, framerate improvements across all devices and assorted bug fixes. id Software (and programming director John Carmack in particular) have long been champions of sharing source code to help further the education of programmers. Last year the company released the source for two of its more recent Wolfenstein titles. Additionally, just last month Carmack committed to releasing the source code for 2004's Doom 3. More information on the updates, as well as links to download the source code, are available in this Bethesda Blog post.
