Vietnam-based indie studio .Gears launched a multiplayer version of its hugely popular
Flappy Bird game on the Amazon Appstore today called
Flappy Birds Family, less than six months after the original game was
removed from stores by its creator.
At the time,
Flappy Bird designer (and .Gears frontman) Dong Nguyen said that he had removed the game from the iOS and Android app stores because he felt guilty about making a game that was "
too addictive" and was causing him to suffer public harassment.
Nugyen later told the Wall Street Journal he was
working on new games, but today's release appears to be a modified version of
Flappy Bird with new ghost-like enemies, support for multiplayer and Amazon's
Fire TV Android microconsole.
The game's release was noted by
@Lifelower and was brought to our attention by
Polygon.
