Video game development encapsulates a wide array of technologies and talents, reaching an ever-broadening audience, and the NAB Show is taking notice.

That’s why NAB Show is reaching out to game developers, inviting you to attend the upcoming NAB Show, taking place April 11-16 in Las Vegas. (You can register here!)

NAB Show and game development

One of the major intersections between NAB Show and the game industry is the rise of the video game broadcaster. Whether through podcasts, livestreaming, or YouTube, gamers no longer just play games – they also watch and listen to other people play games.

Game broadcasting is big business—last  August, Amazon shelled out around $1 billion for Twitch, a service that turns video games into a spectator sport. At the time of the acquisition, Twitch had some 55 million monthly unique visitors from across the globe.

Streaming technology, combined with broadcast personalities and ambitious game design, has turned games into a spectator sport, making “eSports” not only a reality, but a lucrative business to be in. Thousands of people gather in stadiums—real-life stadiums—to watch eSports live. With prizes that can top $10 Million and corporate sponsors like Coca-Cola, it’s clear that video games are not only a principal driver in the entertainment industry, but they’re also the newest major pro sport, with a global and connected fan base.

Livestreaming, driven in large part by gaming, will be one of the many topics of conversation at NAB Show.

Because of its versatility, the video game industry is the most electrifying content field today. However, the industry and the technology is young and growing at an astounding pace, so it is still a relatively open field for content creators to compete for the most eyeballs and dollars.

The NAB Show is one of the world’s premier electronic media events and a must for content creators of all stripes. And as video game production, consumption and connectivity continue to evolve, this increasingly diverse and influential industry will have a larger spotlight than ever before.

So come to the NAB Show, taking place in Las Vegas, April 11-16. Register here!
