Socialspiel, a casual gaming studio formed by ex-Rockstar Vienna and Deep Silver Games staffers, has released its first title for Facebook. Described by the developers as "Animal Crossing meets Frontierville," Tight Lines Fishing is a social fishing game that asks players to compete to catch the biggest fish. Users can compare their catches with those of friends on Facebook, and then train their skills to land even bigger catches. During a beta period which ran before release of the full game, Socialspiel reports that the game was seeing over 30,000 monthly active users. Socialspiel co-founder Helmut Hutterer said, "With Tight Lines Fishing we've created new ways to connect with friends around the world and bring out the angler in all of us." "In doing so, we continue our history of creating unique social games with high quality production values and appealing experiences for players and their friends to enjoy." SocialSpiel's first game, the online board game Push, was released on competing social gaming service Hi5 in December.
