Tweets from a number of employees at Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment indicate a new round of layoffs hitting the Irvine, California-based company. A tweet from Obsidian veteran Akil Hooper notes that he's been the victim of the eighth round of layoffs he's encountered during his 11-year career, during which he shipped a dozen games. QA tester Ashley Betters also tweets that she is "no longer working at Obsidian," with programmer Justin Reynard addressing an employment anniversary message partially to "the ones we've lost." The company, which was founded in 2003 and also worked on Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II and Alpha Protocol, previously saw reported layoffs surrounding the cancellation of an Aliens RPG project in 2009. A forum post on Obsidian's website has also collected other information on the layoffs. Gamasutra contacted Obsidian for an official comment on these new layoff reports and will update with any additional comments. [UPDATE: The original version of this story contained an incorrect interpretation of Hooper's tweet. We apologize for the error.]
