Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment has laid off a number of employees, while it has also reportedly cancelled a next-gen project. Andre Nguyen, an animator on the Irvine, California-based studio's upcoming South Park game, tweeted today that "fellow Obsidianites" have been laid off, while Jason Fader, lead producer at the company, tweeted, "So long, Obsidian. It was a great 3.5 years. I'll miss everyone." Elsewhere, the LinkedIn page of New Vegas lead producer Frank Kowalkowski reveals that he left the company this month, while Michael Bosley, engine programmer at the company, said on his Google+ page, "Obsidian laid off a bunch of folks today. I'm still there, but it's sad (and part of the biz) to see so many good folks let go." Other Obsidian employees who have changed their LinkedIn pages to reflect their departures this month include level designer Casey Kwock, artist Jason Sereno, level designer Dini McMurry and artist J.D. Cerince. Games blog Joystiq is also reporting that a "future next-gen project" has been cancelled at the company, while stating that 20-30 people have been laid off. Gamasutra has contacted Obsidian to find out exactly how many people have been let go, and for confirmation on the project cancellation. It was around this time last year that Obsidian laid off a number of employees, including veteran Akil Hooper and QA tester Ashley Betters.
