Register now for VRDC Fall 2017, because prices go up next week!

This is important because if you're thinking about attending VRDC Fall 2017 this September, you should register now at a discounted rate to save up to $400!

Heads up, VR enthusiasts: Organizers of the Virtual Reality Developers Conference want to make sure you know that the price of registering for VRDC Fall 2017 will increase next Wednesday, July 26th at 11:59 PM Pacific!

This is important because if you're thinking about attending, you should register now at a discounted rate to save up to $400!

VRDC Fall 2017 is a big deal because it's one of the premier places to learn from (and hang out with) the movers and shakers who are working on the cutting edge of VR, AR, and MR development.

When you register you'll be securing access to a very special two‐day event that will bring together experts from multiple industries to share best practices, demo new technology, create new business partnerships, and exchange ideas with innovators shaping the industry.

VRDC Fall covers VR, AR, and MR innovation across all industries (setting it apart from [email protected], which focuses exclusively on games and entertainment) with previous sessions covering applications for healthcare,  training, retail & events, data visualization, documentaries, brand storytelling, and more.

For example, Vertigo Games lead programmer Trevor Blom will be at VRDC Fall 2017 to talk about "Looking Back at the VR Development of 'Arizona Sunshine' and 'Skyworld'." Both games have been early standout hits, so come hear about the incredible journey which was the development of Arizona through Unity, VR, CPU and GPU optimizations, all while maintaining that target of hitting 90fps and making an immersive and realistic game in the process.

You can expect to learn how some features of 'Arizona Sunshine' and 'Skyworld' have been made in Unity ranging from low-end to high-end PC's and Playstation VR. Additionally you will walk away with a better understanding of how to profile and optimize a VR game with Unity, and how you can use that to deliver a more immersive VR experience!

Plus, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's own Nathaniel Guy is coming to VRDC Fall 2017, where he'll be delivering a fascinating talk on "Mixed Reality for Space Exploration."

Using MR/VR applications, the scientists and engineers at NASA JPL can plan activities for the Mars Curiosity rover and analyze Martian geology while walking on a 3D reconstruction of the Martian surface. Guy's session will present recent projects that leverage immersive technology to tackle unique visualization and interaction challenges, and discuss research that shows the beneficial effects of using MR to accomplish these tasks.

Some of the specific problems for which Guy will show solutions include MR procedural assistance, 3D terrain reconstruction from limited image data, and scientific collaboration in a virtual space. Check out the full talk to see how virtual and mixed reality are currently being used to deal with problems encountered in space exploration.

Also, there are lots of great things to see and do at VRDC Fall 2017 besides the talks! For example, you don't want to miss the opening night reception, which takes place Thursday, September 21st from 6 to 8 PM. You'll join fellow attendees, advisors, and speakers to celebrate the kickoff of VRDC Fall 2017 by relaxing, mixing and mingling with the best and brightest minds in the VR/AR community to discuss emerging development trends.

Here's a few photos from last year's event:

So don't miss it! Head over to the VRDC website now and register to attend the conference, which will feature a plethora of great VR/AR talks spanning games, entertainment, and beyond into subjects such as healthcare, journalism, travel, manufacturing, retail, live events, real estate, training, and so much more.

This will be the second standalone VRDC event, following the strikingly successful debut of VRDC as a sibling conference to GDC 2016 and its evolution into a standalone show. After selling out of tickets for the first three events, VRDC Fall 2017 will offer more sessions, moving to a bigger location at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, CA September 21-22.
