PS Vita TV is not coming to the West - at least, not yet

Although there has been plenty of excitement surrounding the announcement of the PS Vita TV earlier this week, it would appear that Sony's entry into the microconsole space isn't as global as previously hoped.
Although there has been plenty of excitement surrounding the announcement of the PS Vita TV earlier this week, it would appear that Sony's entry into the microconsole space isn't as global as previously hoped. The PS Vita TV box can stream videos from services like Hulu or access the videos for sale on the PlayStation Store, and stream this content to your TV via HDMI or wirelessly. According to a report from Nikkei's Tech On! blog, Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House has said that the hardware is aimed at the Asian market, and will not see a release in the West anytime soon. The PS Vita TV is launching in Japan, China and South Korea, where House notes that there is currently a potential space for leading the video streaming market. However the U.S. and European markets are not currently in Sony's sights for the PS Vita TV at this point, he added. On the bright side, House appears to confirm that the PS Vita TV supports the PlayStation Mobile Android-based platform, as we speculated earlier this week. Gamasutra has contacted Sony for confirmation.
