Newsbrief: According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, YouTube Let's Play celebrity Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, generated the equivalent in $4 million in ad sales in 2013. The report notes that most of this revenue is profit. With over 27 million subscribers, PewDiePie operates the most popular user-run channel on YouTube. He operates his channel in partnership with YouTube network Maker Studios, which was recently acquired by Disney. "Unlike many professionally produced shows, I think I've established a much closer contact with my viewers, breaking the wall between the viewer and what's behind the screen," Kjellberg told the WSJ, by way of explaining his success.
