Casual games giant PopCap has signed an agreement with Sony Ericsson that will see its games pre-loaded on Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro smartphone devices globally.
The partnership also marks the first time that PopCap's games will be available on Android devices in Europe.
Set to roll out later this summer, the agreement will see PopCap's biggest hits available on the Xperia devices. Chuzzle
will be pre-loaded in its entirety, while Peggle
and Plants vs Zombies
will be included as trial versions.
Users will then have the option to purchase the full versions of either game using the standard billing service on the devices.
Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap’s senior director of business strategy for mobile, explained, "We are delighted to partner with Sony Ericsson to fulfill our promise to Android users and bring PopCap’s hit mobile games to an ever-widening base of smartphone users."
Sony Ericsson's Fredrik Mansson added, "By partnering with companies such as PopCap, we are demonstrating our commitment to bringing the very best communication and entertainment experiences to our phones."
"Games such as Plants vs Zombies, Peggle
are becoming increasingly popular amongst Android users and we are proud to be able to offer them exclusively on our Xperia mini and mini pro."
PopCap confirmed earlier in the month
that it is being purchased by Electronic Arts in a $750 million acquisition.
