In a new interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sony's Worldwide Studios SVP Michael Denny says that the PlayStation 4's "installed base now is well over 25 million." This is a global number.

And that's before holiday 2015 sales. Sony is clearly reigning in the console space this generation, and analyst firm IHS has predicted that the installed base for the PS4 will hit 37 million by the middle of next year.

Microsoft has stated it will no longer share console sales numbers; Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently admitted that Sony has a "huge lead" in the current-gen console wars.

Nintendo's Wii U has hit 10.73 million units, meanwhile, according to the company's own numbers, which were coincidentally updated today alongside the company's latest fiscal results; the 3DS handheld rests much higher at 54.34 million units.
