Today, VR headset developer and marketer Oculus VR announced that
it is co-publishing CCP's
EVE Valkyrie as an Oculus Rift exclusive title. The game, which is in development at the
EVE Online developer's Newcastle, England studio, has long been shown alongside the prototype Oculus Rift hardware at trade shows.
The game will be an Oculus Rift launch title according to the announcement on the company's blog. No details about when "launch" might be or distribution methods for the game were mentioned.
In conversation with Gamasutra, Oculus VR founder
Palmer Luckey called Valkyrie a "really, really good experience" on the Rift.
Oculus VR
booted up its publishing arm in December with the hire of former EA Partners exec David DeMartini.
EVE Valkyrie, which started out as a prototype called
EVE-VR, was unveiled almost a year ago at CCP's last Fanfest event in Iceland. In September last year, the company
hired former EA DICE developer Owen O'Brien (
Mirror's Edge) to lead the
EVE Valkyrie team as executive producer.
