Oculus has launched a new development initiative designed to help virtual reality creators bring their ideas to market.
Christened "Launch Pad," the U.S.-based program will give budding virtual reality devs the chance learn new skills at Launch Pad Bootcamp, where they'll also receive a free Samsung Gear VR, and win $5,000 to $50,000 in scholarships.
The one-day bootcamp will be held on May 21, and will be limited to 100 participants. Those who thrive during sessions will be encouraged to return and mentor future classes.
Oculus says it's aiming to "foster a widely-appealing breadth of content" and is encouraging people of all backgrounds to apply for the new program.
"We hope to inspire developers that represent our global audience. By investing in developers with unique perspectives, we can bring more exciting content to VR fans everywhere," read an Oculus forum post.
"This includes women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community and anyone who is willing to share how their perspective adds to the 'diversity of thought' in our community."
Anyone looking to apply can do so right here. Applications will close on April 8, and successful candidates will be notified by the end of the month.
