As Capcom faces a difficult financial situation, the company today revealed that construction on two new research and development buildings is underway near its Osaka head offices. The company noted that digital is now the big focus for next-gen consoles, and as such, Capcom is looking to refocus its R&D efforts to better accommodate "this challenging environment." "Constructing these new R&D buildings will make game development operations more efficient by centralizing these operations and upgrading speed and control," said the company. The new facilities will house motion capture, sound recording, and multi-purpose spaces. And these new buildings will bring 100 new developer jobs every year for the foreseeable future, says Capcom, mostly made up of new graduates. By March 2022, Capcom aims to have a workforce of around 2,500 developers. The two buildings together will cost approximately 8 billion yen ($78.7 million).
