Former Infinity Ward head Jason West has left Respawn Entertainment, the studio he founded alongside Vince Zampella in 2010, according to various media reports.
West and Zampella, best known for creating the
Call of Duty series, were fired from Activision for alleged insubordination at the start of 2010. A month later
the pair announced its new studio, with Electronic Arts backing it.
According to reports from both
Polygon and
Giant Bomb, West (pictured, left) has now left Respawn, and has in fact been gone for some time. He has apparently left the studio due to family-related reasons, rather than any issues within the company.
Zampella is now the lone acting head of the studio, the reports state. Gamasutra has contacted Respawn for confirmation.
