Last year, Ratchet & Clank studio Insomniac took a dive into the social games space with browser game Outernauts. Now the company has been forced to close down the online game, in favor of working on a mobile version of the game. Insomniac originally envisioned Outernauts as a franchise, with a mobile version of the game on the way. However, the studio has seen growing pains with the browser version, and has now decided to close it down completely. "While we'd love to be able to keep running Outernauts on Facebook, Kongregate and iOS, we simply don't have the resources to do so at our high standards," reads the post. As a result, the browser version will close down on January 31, 2014, and all in-game purchases have been halted. "We understand this news may come as a surprise to our players. We know some of you may be upset, and we truly apologize for that," continues the post. Insomniac says that closing down this version means its full attention can be put into the iOS version.
