A group of video game, tech, and movie industry veterans are making a move on the world of virtual reality with The Rogue Initiative, a new studio focused on interactive VR experiences.
Co-founded by former Call of Duty producer Pete Blumel; movie and TV production specialist, Cathy Twigg; and tech start-up guru, Hrish Lotlikar, the studio will be headquartered in L.A. and will develop "high production value" content for a variety of VR devices.
As well as targeting conventional headsets, such as the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and the Samsung Gear VR, the studio is keen to explore other distribution avenues including VR arcades, augmented reality, Netflix, and cable television.
After launching today following a seed investment round, The Rogue Initiative is already pushing ahead with a number of VR and video game projects, including an "episodic action tentpole franchise, a psychological thriller, and a stylized animated action adventure."
