Dawson College has recently announced the Independent Video Game Design Program. This first-of-its-kind program combines the traditional disciplines of game design, programming, and art with business and marketing courses designed specifically for people who are looking to start their own independent game design studio.
The Program has been reviewed by an advisory group of industry veterans, many of which have signed on as instructors.
Students will learn how to design, prototype, script, create art, promote, and fund their own games. Graduates of the program will be ready to start their own independent video game companies.
This is a full-time, 2 year, tuition free (for Quebec residences), 900 hour evening program, that allows students the flexibility to work during the day and attend courses at night.
The program builds on Dawson College’s 8 year dedication to video game instructional expertise that started with its involvement in the Ubisoft Campus, and which continued into offering its own Level Design Programs as well as current a-la-carte video game courses. Dawson College, situated in downtown Montreal, is the largest College in the province of Quebec.
The program is set to launch on the 17th of January 2014. Info sessions are being held on October 3rd and 16th at 18h00 room 4C1. Online applications for the program are now being accepted on the Dawson College website until the 1st of November 2013.
