Epic Games' new addition: Impossible Studios

Epic Games today announced the opening of a new Maryland-based studio, consisting of former Big Huge Games employees, and currently housing development of upcoming iOS title Infinity Blade: Dungeons. Big Huge Games was a subsidiary of Curt Schilling's Copernicus MMO company 38 Studios, which recently closed down after initially defaulting on part of a loan from the state of Rhode Island, then running out of money. At the time of closure, Epic's Mike Capps said that his company was looking to help those affected, by forming a new studio for the staffers at Epic. Epic has built up this new studio, Impossible Studios, in association with the ex-leadership of BHG, with Sean Dunn, previously general manager at the shuttered studio, taking on the role of studio director. Infinity Blade: Dungeons, revealed earlier this year as Epic's first in-house mobile game, is now being developed in collaboration with Epic and Chair Entertainment under Impossible's roof in Maryland. The game is set to be released for iOS later this year.
