Disney's video game business finally managed to swing to profits in the last quarter, thanks to the notable success of console game Disney Infinity -- although it still recorded losses for the full year. Disney Interactive, the company's video game division, has been making losses for quite some time now, and the company was hoping that Disney Infinity, its own take on Activision's popular Skylanders franchise, would prove just as successful. Since the game launched in August, it would appear that it has indeed proved popular, helping Disney Interactive to record its first profits in years, with operating income of $16 million, compared to operating losses of $76 million, for the quarter ended September 28, 2013. The company also noted that its Japanese mobile business has proved successful in recent months, although it admitted that results were slightly offset by a decrease in its social games business. It was mainly Disney's consumer products business that helped it to greatly improved profits this quarter, however, thanks to Monsters University and Planes licensing. For the fiscal year ended September 28, 2013, Disney Interactive recorded revenues of $1.1 billion, up compared to $845 million year-over-year, and operating losses of $87 million, compared to operating losses of $216 million yeah-over-year. Overall, Disney saw revenues of $45.0 billion for the full year, up compared to $42.3 billion, and profits of $6.1 billion, up compared to $5.7 billion year-over-year.
