Japanese publisher Capcom has signed an agreement with Gaikai to deliver future titles over the company's streaming service, which lets players instantly try remotely-run game demos through a web browser without a download.
Capcom's Gaikai-powered titles will be available though sites on the Gaikai Affiliate Network
as well as "Capcom-controlled web sites," according to the announcement. Specific titles were not discussed.
"Capcom produces some of the industry's most unique franchises, consistently leading their genres with the highest quality," Gaikai Senior VP of Interactive Entertainment Robert Stevenson said in a statement. "And as a forward thinking publisher who has had great success in the digital space, we’re excited to be working closely with them on such properties."
Capcom will become the second publisher to distribute demos through Gaikai, after the service launched earlier this year
with four titles from Electronic Arts.
Last month, major retailer Walmart began offering Gaikai-powered trials
of those EA games to shoppers on its web site.
Gaikai co-founder David Perry recently told Gamasutra
he hopes to have the service up and running on TVs sometime in 2012.
