Nintendo has revealed that the 3DS' Super Mario 3D Land and the Wii's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword have sold over 500,000 copies, helping drive recent hardware sales as well. 3D Land's 500,000 sales since Nov. 11 make it the fastest-selling portable Mario game, while Skyward Sword's 535,000 sales since November 20 make it the fastest-selling Zelda game ever, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told USA Today. Sales for the 3DS have also been increasing throughout November, Fils-Aime said, jumping 49 percent in the week immediately following 3D Land's release and more than tripling when comparing the first full week of November to the last one. 3DS sales in the system's first eight months have now surpassed those for the original DS in its first year on sale, Fils-Aime said. Last month, the company revealed it was approaching 7 million total sales for the 3DS. The Wii, meanwhile, sold 500,000 units through Thanksgiving day and Black Friday sales promotion, Fils-Aime said, adding that he expects the performance will lead to "a jump in momentum" going into the rest of the holiday season.
