World Zombination studio nets $6M from Oculus and Riot investors

Massachusetts-based mobile studio Proletariat Inc. has secured $6 million in funding from Oculus investor Spark Capital, Riot Games investor FirstMark, Atlas Ventures and other funding partners.

Newsbrief: Mobile developers Proletariat Inc. has raised $6 million in a round of funding led by Spark Capital, with other investors including FirstMark Capital and Atlas Ventures.

Spark Capital also invested in Oculus during the seed stage, as well as being involved in Twitter and Tumblr. FirstMark, on the other hand, were involved with Riot Games from an early stage.

The Cambridge-based Proletariat sprouted in 2013 from the ashes of Zynga's shuttered Boston branch, and recently launched World Zombination  -- a free-to-play tower-defense game with a lot of meta-game persistence where players can interact with one another.
