Syndicate Franchise Revived As First-Person Shooter

Electronic Arts announced today that it is set to revive the classic Syndicate franchise as a "brutal sci-fi first-person shooter experience," due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in early 2012.
Electronic Arts announced today that it is set to revive the classic Syndicate franchise as a "brutal sci-fi first-person shooter experience." The upcoming title, currently known simply as Syndicate, is in development by Starbreeze Studios, the company that worked on The Chronicle of Riddick series and 2007 horror title The Darkness. Syndicate is set in 2069, where three huge corporations are vying for control over a city that has long since seen its government all but abandon it. Players will be able to use special digital abilities to slow down time and use hacking techniques to gain an advantage over the enemy. Mikael Nermark, CEO of Starbreeze Studios, explained, "We are excited to finally reveal what we've been working on the past couple years." For the past few years, the game has been widely rumored to be in development at Starbreeze. "It's been a great experience working with EA, and an amazing opportunity for us to use our expertise in the first person shooter and action genres to bring back, and reignite, the signature action/espionage gameplay of Syndicate." Syndicate will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC in early 2012.
