An Android version of Capcom's Street Fighter IV will be available exclusively on LG's upcoming HD smartphone for three months after its release sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011. "As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone’s benefits," LG president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said in a statement. "The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective." The iOS version of the popular fighting game made frequent appearances on iTunes' top-grossing games lists following its March 2010 release. An updated version, Volt was released on iOS in June. This isn't the first time an Android game has hit one branch of the platform's fragmented marketplace before others -- casual gaming company PopCap signed a deal to bring its titles exclusively to Amazon's Android Appstore for two weeks following their launch on the platform. In April, Google announced plans for stricter enforcement of "non-fragmentation clauses" with handset makers, forcing them to seek approval before adding tweaks or new partnerships to their version of the OS.
