Following on the heels of the news that Gearbox has obtained the rights to the Homeworld franchise, THQ has announced that a large share of its remaining game catalogue and IP has been sold off in another round of auctions. The company generated $4.9 million by selling a large slate of games and IP to publisher Nordic Games, which also acquired publishers JoWood and DreamCatcher in 2011 in similar circumstances, notably allowing it to nab the Painkiller IP. Nordic Games will soon own the rights to Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV and a large number of more dormant franchises -- such as Destroy All Humans!, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Titan Quest, among others. In a statement, Nordic Games CEO Lars Wingefors said that "In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles." He said that the company is currently undertaking an "in-depth analysis" and will be "carefully selecting different financing models for developing new installments of acquired IPs." Meanwhile, Italy's 505 Games bought Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter for $300,000. Gearbox, which had already announced its acquisition of the Homeworld IP and games, is revealed to have paid $1.35 million for that package. It has already announced plans to publish the franchise's existing games on digital platforms. The transactions will not be finalized until May 13, when the court approves the sales. Today's sales overall generated $6.55 million for the defunct company. Most big-ticket THQ IP, such as Saint's Row and Company of Heroes was already sold, alongside their development studios, in January.
