Everwild creative director Simon Woodroffe has departed the project and left developer Rare. Microsoft confirmed the news to VGC, but stopped short of explaining why Woodroffe had stepped down.

"We thank Simon for all his hard work on Everwild and wish him the very best of luck for the future," reads a statement. "The Everwild team are in good hands and passionate about building a game that will give players unforgettable experiences in a natural and magical world."

Everwild was unveiled during the X019 showcase in November last year, and is currently in development for the Xbox Series X (and presumably Series S). A release date has yet to be confirmed.

The news comes after shortly another Xbox Game Studios title, Halo Infinite, lost more high-profile talent, with project director Chris Lee stepping down roughly a year after the departure of creative director Tim Longo and executive producer Mary Olson.
